"For science there's neither political nor state borders, only in this case the science will develop" (from N.A. Nazarbayev's speech at the solemn session of the General meeting of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan devoted to the 70th anniversary of Academy on February 22, 2017) Education and science are the main factors of the economy. The World Declaration on Higher Education emphasizes that no country is able to provide real sustainable economic development without proper modern higher education, research institutions, and skilled educated people. Nowadays Kazakhstan is on the way to industrial-innovative development. According to Kazakh scientists, this phase is characterized by changing scientific system in accordance with modern economic demands. Karaganda Economic University's defining feature is its innovation activity and advanced development. To ensure the quality of the educational process scientific innovations are introduced at the University. Research and innovation activities are funded from various sources. In particular, it is University's own funds, republican and local budgets, as well as external scientific research orders. Due to this, funding the research and innovation activities of the university exceeded 250 million tenge in the recent years, including two projects funded by a grant from the RK Committee of Science. More than 20 projects are funded through the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Education and Science, JSC "Damu" Fund, Karaganda oblast Akimat offices and regional enterprises. The University faculty shows good results in publication activity. More than 100 scientific monographs, 200 books and textbooks and more than 150 scientific articles in impact factor journals have been published in the recent years.Basic elements of scientific-innovative infrastructure successfully develop in the university and those include Research institute of economical and legal researches, Office of commercialization and transfer of technologies, "Dostyk" co-working center. Their main objective is to create favorable conditions for implementation of the staff's scientific-innovative projects, and, the most important, university's students, undergraduates and doctoral candidates ones. The university cooperates with all core research organizations of Kazakhstan, Russia and other counties, including the Institute of Economics (Almaty), the Institute of Economic Research (Astana), the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of sciences Institute of Economics (Yekaterinburg, Russia), Kiev National University named after T. Shevchenko (Kiev, Ukraine), etc. in the field of the research activity development.
